Karnig M. Tourian passes away at the age of 92

A much-loved and well-known figure of the Armenian-Cypriot community, Karnig M. Tourian, passed away this morning in Nicosia, after suffering a stroke. Born in Adana on 19 September 1918, he and his family arrived in Cyprus in 1921, following the persecutions of the Armenians during the Genocide. He was a student at the Melkonian Educational Institute, a World War II veteran, a hard-working man, a former scout, an active member of AYMA and in 1999 he published his memoirs in English and Armenian. But Above all, baron Karnig was a kind man with a passion for learning, an idealist, an avid reader, a forthcoming man.
In 1942, he married Annig Iskenderian with which he had two children, Anahid Eskidjian and Moushegh Tourian, both active in the workings of their respective Armenian communities, in Cyprus and the USA. My sincere condolences to the whole extended family. Asdvadz hokin lousavore.
